It is common today for most flooring manufacturers to void their warranties unless you use floor protectors; such as chair mats. This is because without protection mats, rolling office chairs damage surfaces by ripping the carpet or scratching the hard floor.
Gripper back ensures stability for medium and high pile carpets over 1/2″. Not suitable for hard floor applications.

I have thick, gorgeous carpet in my basement and it made moving my desk chair impossible. This may is the perfect size and helps out immensely. Super happy with my purchase. I ordered the smaller size and it shipped flat, I read a review of a different mat that came rolled up and was a pain, no such troubles with this mat.

I ordered this mat because it is for high pile carpet. When I received it in the mail, the little spikes on the bottom seemed short. The dimensions in the description said .5 inches. I called Wayfair and they were happy to help me replace it, but all of the other high pile mats had the same size spikes, .25 or .3 inches. I decided to keep it and it is working great!
