Description

The Jora JK270 Composter simplifies and speeds up the process of making compost. It is a ‘continuous-use’ dual chamber composter. Dual chambers allow you to keep adding new materials to one compartment while the other matures. Because the unit is insulated and sealed, it converts kitchen waste to compost in 2-8 weeks.

With a capacity of 9.5 cubic feet, the Jora JK270 can easily handle daily composting of kitchen scraps for a family of four or more. It is suitable for larger households, small restaurants, B&Bs, schools, and care homes.
The Jora Composter will accept organic kitchen | household waste or anything biodegradable, including citrus, meat and bones. After adding waste, it will take about 6 to 8 weeks for each chamber to produce compost. Once both chambers are in operation you should be emptying one chamber every 3 to 4 weeks.

I’ve been researching composting tumblers for a long time, and Joreforms get top ratings for everything but one thing:Directions and ease of assembly.

Funny thing was, I suspect those ratings were from people who have trouble putting together Ikea furniture, because now, I’ve done both… and was surprised how easy it was.

It took me about 1 hour 40 minutes to get it done… working solo.Ok, I did have some help from one of my 4 year olds… handing me screws and holding a wrench in place when I was tightening down the nuts on the central bar (I couldn’t quite reach the other end).

Yes.It took some muscle to squeeze the exterior panel into place to sink the screws, but that was about it.

So, a word of advise. If the directions show laying the roller on it’s side… that is actually the best way to keep it stable while you install the a panel. And take the time to lay out the panels ahead of time, with the handles where you want them. It’ll save you time.

All in all, I like it a lot.And I’m looking forward to making yards of high quality compost for my garden and cutting down on my landfill footprint.

Pros: Best compost tumbler on the market
Cons: Assembly required… IE, actual physical work with sweat.

the Jora JK 270 has been a gem reducing the amount of food waste generated here as well as lawn-mower chopped leaves in the fall. If I was able I would give the Jora 5 stars for design, hard-wearing construction, and saving a few dollars on organic home-made garden compost.

I did a lot of research and this composter has not disappointed us yet! The construction is VERY sturdy. You’ll definitely need at least two people and a few hours to put this together, but its worth it. Highly recommend watching the DIY videos from the manufacturer (Jora) because the paper instructions aren’t the best.

Given the weight, the handles on every other panel really help rotate the barrel when it’s full. What I also really like about this is the insulation is THICK, so I’m hoping that will keep the compost warm and speed up the decomposition process.

I’ve had this composter for several years and I am so pleased with how well it has held up to the weather. The two chambers enable us to rotate and use compost sooner. Two is an absolute must for anyone who wants to compost effectively. With these we are easily able to make enough compost for our 3 4 x 8 raised garden beds.

This is a tank of a composter. I had previously bought a two-part molded plastic composter that worked very well, up until it started to leak from the center seam. This one has foam insulation inside it that seals it closed, and I don’t expect it will leak very much if at all. Very easy to turn and the dual chambers are very convenient for different batches of compost.

Assembly takes some patience as the instructions are not entirely crystal clear. Definitely easier with two people. Really appreciated the separate booklet included that details just how to compost properly and what you’ll need to be successful.

Great Product and even better customer service!First a Thank You to Wayfair for shipping to Hawaii, as many don’t.Second for a well designed product and easy to assemble, my recommendation is to watch the assembly video on http://www.joracomposters.com which made the process very easy. And lastly for the great customer service, sent an e-mail to Jora to get some touch up paint (even though the composter comes in two boxes and double boxed) one panel had a small scratch on it.My e-mail was responded to within an hour and touch up paint sent out the same day, they even called to make sure that everything was OK.

100% better than our older “poly” plastic Lifetime tumbler. So far it’s working great and is very well made.We love how the additional foam insulation allows the compost to get hot enough to kill weed seeds!Only wish it could accommodate a larger volume of waste.Since we compost all of garden and kitchen (vegetable, eggs, fish) scraps, both sides filled up quickly.Luckily the increased temperatures in this bin appear to accelerate production and we frequently freeze our vegetable waste to encourage faster decomposition.

After doing my research, I settled on this composter for its capacity and efficiency.I needed a composter than could handle large amounts of yard clippings and household green waste, but was still capable of producing compost quickly. The assembly is as bad as many posts here already mention.I would suggest ignoring the assembly instructions and just keep them for a parts reference.Finding a youtube assembly video produced by companies that sell this composter made assembly much easier. The composter even when completely full on both sides is easy to turn–easier than many of the empty ones I tried spinning in the brick and mortar stores. Even my young children can open and close the composter doors and spin it.They love watching our garbage turn into rich soil for our garden and flower beds and I love how our composter is inspiring them to take care of the earth. Don’t let the price tag terrify you.The composter lives up to its promises and if you have a large yard and/or are a serious gardener, it pays for itself in the savings your recover from not purchasing soil amendments and reducing your garbage bill. The composter certainly isn’t the highlight of my yard, but as far as composters go, it is aesthetically pleasing and keeps odors inside so we can enjoy our time outdoors.

This composter arrived sooner than promised so I was very pleased. It comes flat-packed with about a dozen pieces.I had seen comments about damage in shipping, and though there was some evidence of rough handling, it is double-boxed in 2 layer corrugated board and Bubble Cushion bags for each piece, and there was no damage at all.All parts were nicely finished and went together with stainless steel or nylon fasteners. There is an on-line video to illustrate assembly, but there is a very clear, wordless, one-page instruction sheet, so I haven’t seen the video. It took me 1 hour and 47 minutes to assemble it, but more than 2 hours to run the shipping boxes thru my paper shredder to make compost. When you do that, there is very little shipping waste to go to the landfill (I am keeping the Bubble Cushion).Just the packaging tape and 2 pieces of packing foam.I immediately began filling it with grass clippings, the shredded packaging and a little bit of compost as a started. After 3 days the bin is full and temperature is up to 145 deg F.I love it.

Pros: Really well designed and well made
Cons: The 8 side panels have a bent fin at each end that screws to the octagonal end panels, and those screw holes are a tight fit.So it is hard to start the screws, but they hold very tightly.
