This is an interesting story but to cut it short my brother found an old wing chair in the roadside trash when he was in dental school in the early 70’s.He became attached to it and, some 40 years later, he came to his cabin and found it outside on the burn pile.He carefully rescued it and put it in his barn.A few years ago I saw it there and asked if I could put it in my cabin. He was thrilled because he loved that chair and when “the girls” redecorated and it went on the pile he was sad.It sat in my living room near the wood stove for a few years becoming more ragged and in need of repair. But whenever my brother comes over whomever is sitting in it moves because it is known now as “Uncle Buzz’s Chair”.It has become a family treasure. A friend is willing to stabilize it but cleaning it is questionable because the grime is likely the only thing holding it together. Reupholstery would destroy the historical record of its deterioration. ThenI saw it – a machine wash and dry, one size fits all wing chairs, sage green slip cover on sale at Wayfair for $35.I ordered it and 3 days later it was here.
Last night I put it over the faded, thread bare, not too clean, pale salmon chair. I pulled and tucked and it easily went on and held in place with strategically placed, attached velcro adjusters. I tossed an old handmade family afghan over the back and added a small quilted pillow from the sofa for lumbar support. This morning 3 different people came in and raved about my new chair. My 8 year old grand niece Sophie instantly curled up in her grandfather’s chair by the fire and smiled. She knew it was still the Uncle Buzz chair. And he’ll know it’s still under there intact by the familiar creaking sound it makes when he sits down.I have more work to do with the repair and an attempt to clean it. The wood legs still look pretty good. Total Lifetime Investment for thebest seat in the house = $35.Photos below show the Aftersvs. Before….. Are you inspired?

What can you say about a chair cover? It covered my chair beautifully. I’ve had this wing chair since my youngest was 12 (she’s now 39) and it has seen better days. It’s still got the stain from when the puppy peed on it but the chair itself is still great, just looks horrible. Not any more. This cover makes it look brand new again.

Very pleased with this slipcover. I have an oversized wingback chair and I was concerned about the cover fitting properly. It fits perfectly. The only complaint that I may have is the material. I have cats and a dog and the material is prone to snagging. It wont hold up as well as a fabric such as a cotton duck, but Im ok with that.

My wing back chair was torn up by a cat who liked to claw the back of the chair.Because the chair was in a corner it took me awhile to notice it.At first I thought to reupholster it but that is so expensive. Then I realized I could order a slip cover for it which I did.I received in a couple of days. It was so easy to put on and I put long foam pieces to fit on each side of the arms and behind the seat.It hold it in place perfectly. It looks like a brand new chair.I highly recommend the T Cushion Wingback Slipcover from Wayfair. It is made by Surfit who has been around for many year.

I was really surprised to see how easy it was to put this cover on my chair. The fabric is really nice and there was no ironing needed. My cover is a chocolate brown color and it went on an old, stained wing chair, covering all the stains. The chair looks new and it has improved the whole look of our guest room.

I’ve had this cover for awhile now.It washes well and looks good.Way cheaper than reupholstering the chair.
