This product is a comfortable, yet firm multi-purpose mattress that will help you keep your back healthy, mind, and body well-rested. Not to mention that it does not take up much room and is extremely portable.
Features
EXTRA PADDING – This variation of the Japanese Futon Shiki has more padding than any of our other futons for those who want more padding.
BACK HEALTH – These twin futons are somewhat thin so you do not sleep on a fully padded surface. You are sleeping on a firm surface which aligns your spine that leads to less back pains and less back problems.
COMFORTABLE AND PORTABLE – The traditional Japanese futon mattress is also called Shiki futon and it is very comfortable to sleep in, despite being thin layered. It can even be used as a yoga or meditation mat since it can be folded easily. Since it is also lightweight you can pack it and use it for traveling, camping, and outings.
EXPANSION – Please allow this Shikibuton 3 full days minimum to expand completely. Seeing that it is packed air tight, it needs some time come around to full form and size.

The mattress is fine, but Wayfair gave all my information to a company called LoadUp, who kept emailing me about a pickup for my old mattress. I don’t have an old mattress to give them and they offered no way to just tell them I didn’t need the service without sitting on hold, so I just didn’t schedule the pickup. So THEY SCHEDULED A PICKUP FOR ME WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I called and couldn’t get anyone in the phone. I emailed and texted and no response.
Then I called Wayfair and was told that they did not work with that company. How does that company have all my contact information and my Wayfair order number And now this possible scam is going to show up at my home even though I never filled out the appointment form This is really creepy.
The company finally responded and they insist they do have a contract with Wayfair, so maybe Wayfair is just incompetent.
Beware ordering mattresses or futons on Wayfair. They are at best confused and incompetent and will take up your time. At worst, they’ve been hacked and your personal information is in the hands of criminals.

I hesitated first about this futon mattress because there were several negative reviews, but I am so glad I bought it, trusting the more positive reviews.The mattress arrived in pristine condition, and it does expand to 3 inches 🙂 I agree with the other reviewers that this mattress is very good for your back and provides strong support. It is a good bargain for the quality.

I ordered the 3” Japanese cotton futon mattress before my flight to Seattle from Los Angeles to visit my grandkids after having completed 2-dose Covid 19 vaccination, so I know I will staying for 17 days in 2-bedroom apartment unit rented by my daughter family of four in Seatac, Washington and I anticipated I need a mattress to lay on carpeted floor of the living room. So on the day of my arrival in the morning, and the afternoon their was delivery of this mattress to my surprise on that date Feb 11, 2021 instead of Feb 15, 2021 as scheduled on my online order. I am happy that I have this nice looking Japanese futon mattress to use from that date and beyond up to my schedule flying back to Los Angeles on Feb 2, 2021.

It is 1.5 ”, not 3” thick. no smell, I had very good sleep after I add a 1” foam below the Futon mattress. No back pain after two weeks.

Exactly what I needed. I have been sleeping with a futon for a year, but needed a replacement. I love the fact that the material is cotton. It doesn’t provide much cushion, but I do line it with 1-2 blankets and it’s just right.

It’s a full size and .5 inch shorter than described. It’s supposedly 3inch thick. But i believe that just like pillows, if i could hang them out in the sun, it’ll fluff to the max and feel less stiff. I couldn’t do so because i live in a humid city. And this thing def not gonna fit in the dryer. I heard that futon dryer exist. So that’s another investment for you guys who want to commit to this. For people who complain, cmon, you cannot seriously expecting this to have a comfort level of a thousand dollar memory foam.
