I bought this to use as a kind of night stand shelf to hold my bedtime reading material, since there is only a narrow space on my side of the bed between it and the wall — not big enough for a normal shelf. It works perfectly! Now I don’t have to put my books on the floor. I bought the dark wood version to match our Victorian bed. Simple and effective.
