The lightbulbs come boxed separately. Convenient if you want to customize the colors and sequence. I can box up the red green & clear bulbs and break out boxes of different color C9 bulbs for other occasions. They screw in and out easily. The strand works even if a bulb is out. I have not connected multiple strands, so I don’t know if that is problematic.

Loved my new lights.Very bright and sturdy for outdoor use.I may have missed in the description that they do not arrive with the lights inserted into the socket, so it did take a bit of time to add the lights into the 4 strands I purchased.Otherwise, very nice light set!
