Very pretty Mantel!We ordered the espresso color and looks great over our fireplace which had nothing but a marble tile front to it.
My husband tried to hang the mantel himself since he is pretty handy.However our wall was not level and- on top of that had no stud or brace to attach the mantel too.So the simple directions were just that, but due to the wall we were dealing with-it became frustrating and the hardware would work for us.
Finally after a few hours, my husband gave up and said it was beyond his ability because of the wall situation.We hired our usual handyman to hang it.It took 2 of them to do the job and in about an 1 1/2 with his special wall brackets.He also warned me not to put anything really heavy on it since the mantel itself is a bit heavy for our wall.Long story short- if attaching to drywall, check to make sure there is a wall support behind drywall to properly attach the mantel and hardware to it.If we had all of that, I am sure it would have been easy to put on ourselves.
So aestheticly it looks beautiful and well made.Hollow inside which helps keep the weight down, and you cant tell once it is hung.Love the distressed look as well.fits in well with our look of “antique and new” furnishings.
Overall, I am very happy with the quality and look of the mantel, and would still buy it again even with our wall issues which was not the manufacturers fault.
