It is hard plastic and appears to be sturdy enough to hold the weight of the projector. However when my daughter tried to push the cross bar in place she used too much pressure and it broke. Use caution when assembling.

Easy set up. My only issue is that when you tighten it, the platform where you put the projector leans a bit the the left. It’s not straight but that’s an easy fix.
