Description
The pie bird may be old-fashioned, but this time-honored baker’s tool has turned out countless delicious pies over centuries. The hollow pie bird vents steam from the filling as it cooks, preventing the contents from boiling over, while arches on the bottom redirect excess moisture to keep the bottom crust from becoming soggy.

Can’t post a photo – the meat pie I used this little bird to vent is all gone. It was easy to place in the middle of the bottom crust – fill around him, and slip the top crust over its head where I had cut a small opening. Good job! No spills or eruptions. Easy to wash off

Love this little pie bird. I have used it to bake one fruit pie so far and it worked like a charm. I wasn’t too familiar with these handy gadgets before I saw it on Wayfair (and am slowly collecting Le Crueset) but thought I would give it a try. I’m a rookie pie maker but I can tell this bird made a difference in ventilation. It’s also so cute I can place it around the kitchen as a decoration, most of our guest’s usually ask me what it is!

Our daughter’s 12 Days of Christmas Gifts were themed to her kitchen remodel.We bought this in purple because that is her accent colour for her kitchen.I have seen one of these in years and it was PURPLE!The look on her face was priceless when she didn’t know what it was or was for.She said, “OK Mom, it’s a purple bird?”I then told her have it was used to bake pies.I am teaching her to bake, and we started with old hand me down family recipes.I told her she would soon need it.It was 12th Days gifts.
