Sherrill 47.2″ Wide Server

This was a semi-impulse purchase because I had a new TV and an AmEx offer; the new TV was 58″ and I *hoped* it would fit.

All of my pieces arrived undented and unscratched, but it would be insanely easy to dent or scratch this during assembly – I am widowed and had to do it mostly alone, and assembly was definitely confusing.

After Googling “Hashtag Home Sherrill 47.2′ Wide Server assembly” forever and finding nothing, I went back to the product page and remembered there possibly being a video. THE VIDEO IS KEY. I watched the video 3-5 times after the first two steps, and then paused and rewatched it at every step.

Another really important thing to know is that (I think) a lot of reviewers go into this expecting it to be like each step involves a screw or bolt. That isn’t the case – after the first step, SEVERAL steps involve slotting together pieces which are not secured by any of the hardware. It’s confusing, but most steps to my recollection involved sort of interlocking pieces like a puzzle, and most of the screws and washers didn’t come into play until the thing was almost assembled.

After 90 minutes and only getting to the second step (it kept collapsing), I called my son in and we got 40% more of the assembly done in 5-10 minutes. Then he snuck off and the rest of the assembly took me 45 minutes.

Also, I suspect a lot of people get stuck after the first step because of the confusing video and because it just keeps falling and not staying put. I don’t actually remember what the issue was, but I think it was that we weren’t really thinking in terms of interlocking the pieces, and then finally it worked. And I remember getting past that part, and then the rest was fairly easy. (The door magnets are awkward.) Getting the bottom parts in place was a bit tricky and not as easy as it looked in the video.

TLDR: Assembly is confusing, and the video is necessary- watch it first, then keep pausing and rewatching it. Secondly, I was scared my 58″ TV wouldn’t fit (and the manufacturer said max is 50″) but it did, in case anyone is considering a slightly larger TV – TVs are measured diagonally, not horizontally. All in all, I am very pleased with this item – color is more muted than the pics which works out better for me since I have a muted blue sofa.

If you can get an extra set of hands even temporarily, it will help, but I am fairly weak and not very good at assembling and it went okay. Also, as others said, the printed instructions are almost entirely useless. But the finished product is very cute.

It was delivered very quickly and it was reasonably easy to ensemble. I love that they have a nice range of color options, I went for the green (that is actually more light blue) and I think it gives a nice colourful touch to my living room.

We love this server. It is the prefect pop of color in our dining room. It provides plenty of storage room and matches our overall metallic look we are going for. It was super easy to put together. We highly recommend!

I already had two of these in another color but when I bought them earlier this year they were called something else and sold by another company.I reviewed them earlier.We bought these latest two in green to hack into a hidden cat litter box and storage unit for our daughter’s small apartment.We cut holes in both sides of one of them and installed cat doors.We ordered two cat litter boxes with the right dimensions to fit inside the cabinet pushed together in the middle, leaving some room at the ends for the cats to walk in and out.We did not install the shelf inside this one so it could be totally open.

We will build the second one with the inner shelf but leave the legs off.Then we’ll bolt that second unit to the top of the lower cat box unit and voila!Not only is this a very nice looking, inexpensive cat litter box hiding piece of furniture, but it also has a nice storage area above it for cat related items.The very top is always-welcome extra horizontal space.

The pictures show only the bottom unit.My husband will build and bolt on the second unit at my daughter’s apartment.
