Allows for easy adjustments you just can’t do with a normal fixed hardware set-up – the cables allow you to take up slack as your sail cloth ages and fabric relaxes causing a bit of slack or droop you just wind up the tension to correct and voila! you are back to a perfect fit/coverage/look!
