The stairway’s special safety gate is designed for maximum safety and is made to be used with a baby or pet. This gate is great for all areas and ideal for the top of the stairs. This hardware-mounted baby gate features a latch system that baffles toddlers yet allows one-handed operation for adults. The included optional one-way stop bracket prevents the gate from opening over a stairway, providing higher safety and more peace of mind. The latch system on the stairway special allows for the gate to have the ability to mount at angles up to 30 degrees, allowing installation in unique areas and for mounting to offset studs in drywall. At 29.5″ tall, this gate is adjustable and able to close off openings from 27″ to 42.5″ out of the box. Add the optional 10.5†or 21.75″ extensions (models BX-1 and BX-2, sold separately) to increase the span up to a maximum of 64.25″. This gate is constructed of high-quality aluminum with a powder-coated finish available in black or white.

Bought one of these gates to put across the doorway to my garage to keep my dogs out. Loved it so much I bought another to put across a hallway to keep the dogs at one end of the house. I elevated the 2nd gate a bit so the cat can crawl underneath. It lays flat against the wall when open and works GREAT! There is no bottom strip to trip over and the lock can be modified to make it easier to open with one hand. Best gates I’ve ever used with a lifetime of dogs. Suppose it would work for two-legged babies too.

I haven’t actually used it yet, but I like that it mounts directly to the stair supports instead of being the tension-type.I don’t like the idea of those.What if the baby pushes too hard or falls against it.He could fall down the stairs and hurt himself.So….the reason I bought this was bc of the way it mounted and bc of the width.

We have tried several different gates to keep our dog from bothering the cat!This is the best one yet!It was easy to put up and we love that it gives you the full door opening when you pass through without a strip on the floor to trip over.Great buy.
