It can be regularly used as a bed or a couch cushion. The 1Shaftesbury 12″ Cotton Futon Mattress by Alwyn Home has a cover made from polyester, and this provides durability to it. The use of foam in the making of the mattress core makes it soft and comfortable. It features a pattern of uniformly distributed tufts on both sides. Different types of throws can be set on this mattress when it is used as a couch cushion. This futon mattress folds quickly into a compact form ready for storage. This futon mattress is made in the United States of America. It is easy to maintain, and a spot clean with cold water and mild detergent makes it ready for use. It is non-toxic and safe for use at home with small children and pets. It is made flame-retardant and does not readily react with inflammable substances.

I searched a really long time for a full-sized futon mattress before I found this one and am so pleased with the quality of this product. We needed a futon mattress that would be used primarily as a bed for my boys, so it needed to be comfortable. Both my husband and I sleep on occasion on this mattress and can attest it is firm and comfortable; nor do we wake up sore in the morning.
There is a chemical smell when it is first unwrapped and it does linger for a few weeks before it completely disappears. I didn’t find it intolerable, just noticeable. I found putting a fitted sheet on it though masked the smell and it does go away entirely probably in about a month’s time.
I bought from Wayfair bc they offered best price I could find.
I highly recommend and would buy again.

Futon unboxed easily and has puffed up nicely. No issues with stitchingstainssmells like some customers. Puffed to 8” over 2 days and is very comfortable.
We have had many futon mattresses over the years and you can’t measure them like you do conventional as they are soft sided. The strip around the outside of the mattress IS 12” – then subtract 1” for seam allowance, and remember that the sides bulge. So 8” hight is normal and expected.
