This is a very hard purchase to review because I absolutely love the mantle, however, the install is tough work and there’s a lot of heavy lifting. Here goes: My 60″ mahogany mantle arrived via UPS from Utah and was solidly packed with all the hardware and instructions that I needed to hang it. I am a 5’4″ female and would never have been able to install this myself. My dad (very strong and in shape) and my sister helped me so there were three of us working and it took about an hour and a half to do in the install including find the studs in my fireplace (we used 2 but you have the option of doing 3) measure everything, drill holes, etc. I want my review to be clear that it takes a lot of effort to mount this mantle because it is very heavy and all your measurements need to be 100% accurate or it will look off. You are drilling holes 4″ deep both in the wall through the studs for the screws as well as 4″ though the mantle which my dad was the only one strong enough to do with the drill. That being said, it is beyond beautiful! Made in America, sturdy as can be and gorgeous. It complements my home so nicely and I couldn’t be happier with it. To me, it made a big difference to have a real wood, rustic mantle rather than by some hollow fake wood product made in a factory somewhere. All the hard work to hang it was completely worth it as it has made the space look totally custom, just keep in mind its really heavy and if you don’t drill your holes right and if you don’t find your studs, you’ll be in trouble. For the price and the free shipping, its a really good deal and I’m very much in love with it. Even if you can’t hang it yourself, at this price you could probably even hire someone to do it for you. I would definitely buy from them again and I look forward to enjoying this mantle for many years to come. Its a stunning statement piece and has gotten me so many complements.

Mantle was everything I expected it to be and just beautiful. It is solid and heavy with a gorgeous finish in the driftwood that we decided on. Would definitely purchase again if we had it to do all over.
Instructions are simple and accurate and I installed it by myself even on the 72in/57lb option. If you are smaller person or less comfortable with DYI type stuff then have a helper. Measure everything multiple times and think it all through before drilling and cutting. Do your best to get into three studs as the piece is heavy. I recommend using the liquid nails in the mounting holes even though it is listed as optional. Also, during the project consider running the wires to do undermount lighting on this thing and making cuts to hide that behind the mantle would be easy. The shadow from our overhead lights is quite drastic as you can see in the photo below. More work for me to add the lighting now than it would have been when I had the fireplace tore up.

Perfectly rustic beautiful pine. Has some splits on top and bottom but they’re narrow.Some sap still weeping but its curing nicely. We installed concrete board over our drywall so we could tile with ledgers. Easy mounting over the concrete board with ledgers above and below. It’s stunning!The driftwood stain is perfect. The stain is moisture proof and the finish of the wood is rustic. You can see the cleat marks where it was held for cutting and processing in the wood mill. We’re very happy with it.

Awesome! Exactly what I was looking for. I got it in the driftwood color and its perfect with the grays in my house. It did take a long time to arrive but I wasn’t in any hurry since we are slowly renovating our house. Its very nice. I love the distressing. It weighs 57 lbs but I was able to lift it by myself (5’5″ 150lb girl) onto my original mantle to see how it would look. To actually install it is definitely going to take two people though. It did have a lot of cracks on one side but I’m going to see if my husband can install it with that side to the wall — it may be that way for that purpose, I’m not sure until he gets to install it. All in all I am super happy with my purchase and feel like it really warms up the space and updates the fireplace.
